Hi
We have a problem with our HP CP 4525 DN printer -
-The tray in the printing options is "Auto" and the paper size is "A4"
-On printing, the printer always stops and ask us to feed paper manually in tray one !
-We already have "A4" in tray two!
-It doesn't matter what paper size or type we set for tray one on the printer panel/web config.
-We have set the drivers option to use tray two - but some programs auto it to "Auto"
-The client PC's (Win7/64bit) is printservers and connected by the network
-We have also updated to the lastest driver (61.091.12.102)
-I do remember an older HP printer - there you could set "default" tray...
Its very annoying to always remember to manually change the tray !

Hi Visard,
There are a couple of places that can be associated with the printer requesting that you manually load media in Tray 1. I would like to mention them and ask that you check these settings. If they are all correct, then we can dig in deeper.
1) Check Media Size that the Printer thinks is loaded in Tray 2:
Press the "Menu" key, then use the arrows to select "Paper Handling" then "Tray 2 Size". Since you have A4 loaded, it should show "A4". If it shows anything other than "A4", open the tray and adjust the Length and Width guides so that they are set to "A4", close the tray and check the menu again.

Chapter 6, Pages 92-100 discuss loading media.
If this is set to Custom or another media size and no other tray matches the job, the printer will prompt that the media be loaded in Tray 1.
2) Check the Manual Feed Setting
Press the "Menu" key, then use the arrows to select "Configure Device" then "Printing" then "Manual Feed". Make sure it is set to "Off".
Please refer to:

Chapter 2, Page 20 Describes the Manual Feed setting.
It is this menu item that will cause all jobs to prompt for Manual Feeding. If it is set to "Off", you might try setting it to "On", then pack to "Off" Again.
3) Check the driver printing default
Right Click on the printer in "Devices and Printers", then left click "Printer Properties". Left Click the "Advanced" tab and then left click "Printing Defaults...". On the "Printing Shortcuts" tab, click on the shortcut or shortcuts that you use and make sure that "Paper Source" is not set to "Manually Feed in Tray 1". On the "Paper/Quality" tab make sure that Paper Source is not set to "Manually Feed in Tray 1".
