I have an HP Color Laserjet CP3505 that will not print color after entering sleep mode. After a power cycle the printer performs normally until it enters sleep mode. After which it will only print blacks, greys, and sporadic spotty color.
It is a networked printer and this happens from Mac and PC workstations. It also occurs when printing the color band page from the printer itself.
Product Name: HP Color LaserJet CP3505
Model Number: CB443A
Printer Serial Number: [edited SN]
Formatter Number: LC00JRN
Firmware: 20131018 03.150.1

Hello, linfalgamo:
I can search for more information on why this is happening, but in the meantime, here are some steps for you to disable sleep mode.
Thanks for contacting HP, and I hope you have a great day!

Hello,
It sounds like the ETB (Electrostatic Trasport Belt) T1 (Transfer) roller alienation is malfunctioning. I suggest that the next time it happens, pull out the ETB and check to see that the T1 (transfer) rollers that are just below the belt (there are 4, one for each color) are at the same level. Meaning that they are sticking out the same height. One cause of the symptom you describe would be that the black CRG station T1 roller is engaged at the correct position, however, the 3-color (CMY) T1 rollers are lower and in the non-engaged position. This can cause the color toner to be very minimally transferred.
An ETB replacement should fix this issue if you find that the CMY T1 rollers are in the incorrect position.
If you find that this is indeed the cause, then there is a procedure that you can use as a temporary workaround until you get a new ETB. Please let me know what you find.
Regards,
DaveK.

My printer (CP3505dn) stopped printing in colour very suddenly, and was not related to it going to sleep.
I removed the ETB as David suggested and can indeed see that the rollers for the 3 colour toners are on a position lower than that of the black toner. I am going to look into the possibility (and worth, as this is now an 8-year old printer!) of purchasing and replacing the EFT. However, David mentions "there is a procedure that you can use as a temporary workaround until you get a new ETB." Can you please tell me which procedure this is, so that I can get this printer working again at least until I finish the present job? I will be very grateful!
Kika.
