With the power on, unplug the printer from the wall outlet.  Wait 5 mins and plug it back in.  Status?

I waited 20 minutes and then plugged it back in and it still got stuck on initializing

Hello,

I see that you're having an issue with the printer stuck in initializing.

I would suggest doing a hard reset with the printer.

Hard Reset:

Unplug the power cord from the printer and wall

Take out the toner/cartridges

Wait 30 sec

Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall (Make sure the printer is plugged into the wall and not a surge protector)

Insert the toner/cartridges back into the printer

Let me know the outcome.

Hi!  I tried your hard reset fix for another model that appeared to be having the same problem mine is, as nothing else had worked and it sounded promising. Mine, a Photojet C4680, has gotten more & more unreliable ever since I bought a new computer with Windows 7. By now it just sits there beeping and turning itself on & off. Unfortunately, the reset didn't work. I've reinstalled the drivers using the latest version from the HPS site -- no change. Can you recommend anything, or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new printer/scanner?

Thanks for your help!

Leslie

I wouldn't worry about the drivers; you're having a hardware issue here. If the reset didn't resolve the issue, I would suggest calling HP @8004746836 and see what options they have to replace or repair the unit.

I have a C4680 and seem to be having the same problem.  Mine just started in mid-June 2013.  Does this seem to be something that is starting to be a widespread problem?
