I am trying to print some invitations and the printer will only pick up one or two of them before giving a message that the paper tray is empty.  I have attempted troubleshooting per the HP website, including the rollers and nothing.  I think my best bet is just feeding the paper manually but I cannot figure out how to do that.  It is nowhere in manual that I can find.  Thanks.

Are you using the top tray?  Page 166 of the user manual here indicates card stock (up to 110lb) is supported in the top tray but only plain paper is supported in the bottom tray.

I looked over my 8600 carefully, it does not appear there is any way to manually feed media.

Hello, can anybody help me?

I am trying to print off-size (A7 enclosure) cardstock for invitations.

When I use Tray 1 (the only tray I have) and change the guides in the tray, I get an error message that the page-size does not match the software.  Printed on the inside of the tray is "4x6".  I am able to print when I change the document to 4x6, but that's not really what I'm trying to get done--and it ends up (obviously) very off-center.

1)  Does that mean that I can only print on letter, legal or 4x6 sizes?

2)  Is there a manual feed that I'm just not seeing on the printer?

Looking forward to a resolution...thanks!

The solution may be in the printer preferences.  Make sure the "Media" (Paper type) and "Paper Size" are what you want to print.  The default is normally "Plain Paper" and "Letter".

That always works for me when I stay within the printer's available selections.  I have 3 different models of HP printers and they all work well within their design parameters.

Nearly all comments i've read about the Pro 8600 address expected output disappointment rather than the question, "What am I asking/telling the printer to give me?"

THIS WORKED!! THANK YOU FOR WHOEVER POSTED THIS.  YOUR INSIGHTED SAVED THE DAY AND SAVED ME FROM HOURS OF TROUBLESHOOTING.

SO JUST TO RE-CAP, FOR THOSE THAT ARE PRINTING INVITATIONS OR WITH CARD STOCK PAPER USING THE HP OFFICJECT PRO 8600 PLUS...YOU MUST CHANGE YOUR MEDIA. CHANGE YOUR PRINT OPTION PREFERENCES FROM "LETTER" TO "INDEX CARD LETTER" AND THEN YOU WILL SEE "CARD STOCK" SELECTED FOR YOU DOWN BELOW UNDER 'MEDIA'.

THIS ALLOWS THE PRINTER TO PICK UP THE PAPER AND NOT GET STUCK....PRINTS PERFECTLY AFTER THAT!!

THANKS AGAIN.
