OfficeJet 7510

The print head on my OfficeJet 7510 is damaged and I do not intend to fix it, but I would like to be able to continue to use the device as a scanner. The error screen doesn't let me proceed to other functions though. Can I disable the printer and related diagnostics and still use the scanner?

No,

As an all in one device such an error condition of the hardware will likely affect any aspect, you will not be able to scan from the printer control panel during such an error state.

You may try launching a scan from your computer and see if that may work, however there are high chances it won't work too...

Shlomi

Thanks ShlomiL. Actually I found the way to do it. I re-opened the HP Printer Assistant software,  and used that menu to access the other services on the device.

I recently replaced this 7510 with a new 5740, but the scan function on the 5740 is very slow and crashed once on a multi-page scan, forcing me to repeat the entire scan, at which point I decided to try going back to the 7510, which was MUUUUCH better as a scanner. I am now using the 5740 for printing and the 7510 for scanning.
