I'm printing form a wireless home network.  I was having problems with double printing whenever I printed a document from my laptop...all of the alignment, and test pages were fine, but not the documents.  Now, if I print a word document, it prints fine, but I'm not able to print a .pdf file.  Whenever I try to print a .pdf file it wants to save it as a .pm file.  I've double checked to make sure that the printer is selected and not "save"...any suggestions?

Thanks,

What program are you using to print the PDF files?  I have seen various printing issues with PDF files resolved by using the (free) Adobe Reader DC program available for download here.   Take note of the "optional offers" checkboxes in the center panel, you may want to deselect those.

Which probably implies one or the other regarding the selected Windows printer instance:

  • The port associated with the printer definition is set to FILE:, rather than to the usual target (USB or network) port.
  • The options set in the Print dialogue include the 'print to file' option.
