Hello everyone,
I am having difficulties getting my HP Photsmart 6520 to connect to my Mac (OS X 10.9) wirelessly. As of now I can only use it with a USB cord which is annoying. I have tried following the steps through HP Utlility and at the end it says it is unsuccessful.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP IN THE NAME OF HALLOWEEN!
Thank you.

Welcome to the forums @TheRookieee
I saw your post about the troubles you're having with installing your printer wireless on your network, and I hope to help you!
I would suggest trying the steps that are laid out in this guide for when the printer is not detected on the network. Please let me know the results.
If you still see any issues, please let me know the details
Happy Monday and belated Halloween!

Hello @Rainbow7000 !
Thank you for the link. I checked that link out and followed all the steps provided the day I posted the message. Unforntunately, it did not work. The printer works only with the USB cord. I tried to set up the printer wirelessly using HP Utility to no avail. It states device is not reachable when "Configuring Device." Also, I tried setting up using the IP address in the HP Utility program and it also says device is not reachable. I tried setting up using an IP address in Mac System Prefenceces and it says "Unable to verify the printer on your network....unable to connect to xxx.xxx.x.xx (my printers IP address) due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?"I searched on Google to try to find a forum with the same problem. Someone mentioned they needed to install drivers to get their printer to work, however, that did not work either.
I greatly appreciate your help.

Hello again!
Sorry to hear the steps did not help any, here are some more ideas to try.
On the printer, select the Setup Menu, Wireless Menu, and Restore Network Defaults
- Restart the printer
- Select Setup Menu, Wireless Menu, Wireless Setup Wizard (Follow the steps until the printer connects to your network)
On your computer:
- Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
- Repair disk permissions
- Restart the Mac
- Install the printer again: HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers
Hopefully that does the trick, let me know the outcome. If there happens to still be an issue, reply back to me with which router you have.
Happy Tuesday to you:)

Good Evening!
Thank you for all your help again. I followed all the steps you provided, HP Utility "could not find" my printer. I tried once again to enter the printers IP address in the option given to no avail. I tried adding the printer in Printers & Scanners and once again I received the message:
"Unable to very the printer on your network.
Unable to connet to 'xxx.xxx.x.xx' due to an error.
Would you still like to create the printer?"

Good day to you, Rookie!
On the printer, select the Setup Menu, Wireless Menu, and Restore Network Defaults
- Restart the printer
- Select Setup Menu, Wireless Menu, Wireless Setup Wizard (Follow the steps until the printer connects to your network)
3. Power cycle the network devices:
Turn off the printer and computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press any buttons on the router).
Plug the router back in and wait another minute, next turn on the printer and computer.
4. Print a wireless test report and check to make sure the printer is on your network from the report.
Setup Menu, Wireless Menu, Print Wireless Test Report
5. If the report looks good and the printer is connected to the correct network, now try adding the printer again. If the printer will not add, install this driver update: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X and try adding the printer again.
My fingers are crossed and I'm hoping for the best!
Good luck 🙂

I am having trouble connecting my macbook air to my photosmart 6520 series printer. I've tried several things.
I have an ad hoc connection to my printer in my wifi menu of my macbook. If I disconnect from my internet connection and click on the HP Photosmart wireless connection, I can print what I sent to the printer while I was in my internet connection. However, I can't print when I am in my network connection... it recognizes the printer, and it allows me to select it, but then it gives me a message that it cannot find it. It puts the printer icon on my dock with a red badge telling me it has one printing item, but it also has a yellow caution mark on it. If I disconnect from my internet connection and connect on the photosmart connection, it will automatically print.
I have followed the specific photosmart webpage within the setup area on my macbook, and it says the printer is connected to my network. My printer connected to my desk computer (hp) says it is connected to the wireless network, and the test printout page shows no problems. When I click on my photosmart icon on my desk computer, it says I have two connections: one usb and one network/wireless.
I dowloaded the hp Inkjet SW OsX Mavericks software/driver on my macbook and installed it; however, I can't get through the setup because it says it cannot find my device. Was I supposed to do that on my desk computer? I am so confused.

Hello @cicimc
Welcome to the community! I hope I can help
If you have the printer connected as an ad hoc connection to your Mac, there is no internet connection involved, which is why you cannot print anything when connected to the internet. Perhaps you are looking to connect the printer to your wireless network instead of using an ad hoc connection? This will allow you to be connected to the internet and print at the same time. If this is not what you want, please let me know!

Keep me updated on the results and how you make out!
Have a great Tuesday,
