I bought and started using my new HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 on 10-2-16. I used it yesterday  twice ok and when I but the third time was a fail. Now I get "To scan to a computer, make sure that the scanning software has been installed and configured on your computer:

Windows: Open the HP printer"

Huh? What happened?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

We'll suggest that you installed the FULL feature software and then enable the Scan to Computer feature.

The following resource will help you to download and install the software :

http://123.hp.com/us/en/

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

The following 2 resources will show you how enable and proper use of the feature:

How to enable "Scan to Computer" on you HP All-In-One printer

How to use "Scan to Computer" feature properly

For more scanning tips, please check out this resource:

Hope that helps!
