HP Envy laptop with Windows 10, HP6950 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer worked OK for months, then one day got printer offline message, checked 'Printers and Scanners', saw HP Officejet 6950 Driver is unavailable. Tried to update drivers, could not. Tried to Remove Printer - would not. Tried to 'Uninstall and reinstall drivers' - would not.

Looked up symptoms online, tried several methods, including manually deleting the drivers and registry keys, still no joy. So I can't delete the printer or reinstall it, or update the drivers, but the 'Printers' page still says 'Driver is unavailable'.

Hi @RolyDriver ,

... ... ...

Try to install with the following basic driver:

Thanks to those who answered - none of the suggestions worked so I called HP Support. Their printer driver expert tried many things, took over an hour, but it was eventuallly fixed. I lost track of what actually resolved the issue, after several downloads and reboots, but the last thing done was to download the complete printer driver (which I/she couldn't do initially). Incidentally, the Printers page still says the driver is unavailable, and I still can't remove the driver - but it works now...

Hi, thanks but this didn't work.
