I can't scan wirelessly from my HP Officejet Pro 8710.  It doesn't show up as a scanner under Printers & Scanners, and when I try to connect to it I get "An error occurred while communicating with the scanner. (-9923)"  Other HP scanners work fine for me, and the scanner works fine on a Windows device.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Can you try this:

From the Applications folder delete any existing HP Scan or HP Easy Scan app.
Delete HP Scan or HP Easy Scan by moving it to trash, then empty the trash.

Ensure the latest software is installed, use this link for your printer:

macOS X : HP Easy Scan

Also, make sure that your drivers are up to date

> Click on the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update
>Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, but it didn't work.  At least with the Easy Scan app it recognized my printer as a scanner, but I still get

"An error occurred while communicating with the scanner."

Hi,

That's a good start  - recognising the printer as a scanner.

Can you try this:

macOS 10 12 Sierra: Adding a printer using IP address

else, this:

macOS 10 12 Sierra: Enable and Use Webscan

Hope that helps!
