HP LASER JET M1005
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Bought brand new HP LASER JET M1005 printer installed the required drivers. Printing is fine but unable to scan.

When I try to scan I am getting the following error:

12320 : cannot find the scanner.

Check if the scanner main power is on.

I have restarted the system and printer too even though I am unable to resolve the same.

can anybody help ?

Regards,

Nagesh Jadhav

@NJ8,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to scan from your HP LaserJet M1005 Multifunction Printer as you get an error message "12320: cannot find the scanner. Check if the scanner main power is on."

This issue could occur if the firewall is blocking the scanner software or the scan settings are not correct.

Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link depending on how the printer is connected to the computer(network or USB):

1. Network Scanner Connection Error (Windows)

2. USB Scanner Connection Error (Windows)

Let us know if you have installed the full feature software from the CD that came with the unit.

Also, let us know how the printer is connected to the computer.

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.
