Hello. I am looking for some advice on getting the scanner to work on the HP Laserjet 100 MFP M175. I have installed the full feature software, and I am getting an error message when trying to scan. The error is:

The HP LJ100 M175 Scan was not found. This is on a Windows XP 32 bit system, USB connected. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there,

Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:

It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.

Best of Luck!

I cannot get the scan function to work with a Dell Inspiron 1525 that's been updated to Windows 7 (32). The device installed immediately on my Lenovo T430, but Dell I think, have restricted the WIA drivers (the webcam also doesnt work)

If anyone has any suggestions (apart from never buying Dell again) I'd be pleased to try them out.

Ran the HP Scan Doctor. It found errors with the scan driver, could not fix it, and did not have a solution. It just redirected me to the HP support page.

Any other ideas?

Hi, Windows did a lengthy update 2 days ago - took about an hour; Suddenly the scanner (and webcam) are working!

I have the same problem. I've tried resolve problem with HP doctor, but no success. No other updates didn't help neither. Do you have any other suggestions to solve this issue?

Thank you in advance

I've had the same problem, 'The HP LJ100 M175 Scan was not found'.

After over 7 hours with six HP tech support techies, I had to ask a friend to fix it.

The problem is the install program keeps adding ports to the printer.

start, printers and faxes, HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M175 PCL6, properties, Ports

There you should find several extra ports for the same printer. Delete the extras and the scanner will work.  If you are unsure, delete them all for that port. You can always install the printer again, like the HP techs did about 20 times. Then delete the extras.

It worked several times for me on different computers.

I've found the scan software keeps getting deleted. If the scan software shows in 'My computer' it will scan.

Solution: Uninstall the software for the printer completely. I use the Basic install to install & uninstall so I don't have to deal with the ads. After uninstall, it will ask you to reboot. Then install the printer/scan software. After install, it probably still wont scan. INSTALL THE SOFTWARE AGAIN OVER THE LAST INSTALL. Then you'll see the scan software in 'My computer' and the scan will work.

That's my easy fix and it works every time. The HP techs gave up on me. I had to find this myself.   jm@rcs-1.com
