I have an HP ENVY 6020 which I have connected to my Mac by USB. The wifi light is always on and HP as a company are just so complicated instead of dealing with any question straightforwardly. How do I turn off wifi blue light please, and can I just download wifi set up at a later date without going through treacle to do so?

I have never known such a paranoid and controlling company and will go back to Epson as soon as printers start appearing in stock again. Everything about HP  support is unnecessarily  complicated and their ink is the most expensive of all the printer companies.

Thanks for your reply. I sold the printer just over a week from buying it as, HP inks are simply far too expensive and the printer has  too many lights on all the time. It's more style over usefulness and I am happily using an Epson printer again, which is much easier to use and run.

HP support contacted me and screen shared and talked me through problem. Apparently the Blue Wifi light is on permanently whether you want it or not. So much for democracy!

Interestingly, it was a scammer that contacted me and gave me helpful information and downloaded additional software. Of course once I realised what had happened I ran Malwarebytes and rebuilt my Mac from OS upwards. Took from Sunday evening until last night and I informed Fraud Action and HP.  HP response.was Zero.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

To turn on or off the wireless capability of the printer

  • Press Wireless button on the back of the printer to turn on or off the printer wireless capabilities.
  • If the printer has an active connection to a wireless network, the large bar of the Edge lighting glows light blue in the center.
  • If wireless is turned off, the large light bar of the Edge lighting glows white in the center.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
