Designjet T1200
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello.

I'm trying to print some artwork on canvas and was wondering if a Designjet T1200 can do the job. When loading paper, canvas doesn't show up among the other media options, though I've read on the manual that the printer may print on media not listed in the standard set through some manual configuration.

Has anybody got any experience on this?

Thanks in advance.

Few years back, I had a T610 44" which very similar like your T1200 & I printed many canvas before.

If no canvas  when you load canvas roll. maybe you can disable the cutter   ( not hard, sinply remove the oval shape

cover on left... not the complete big cover & remove a tiny screw & slide out the cutter. )

T610 is dye ink, except the black, after you print on canvas & must apply a protective coating, also from fading.

Not that good when you switch back to paper & it did not cut.....

Thanks for your answer jason! On the T1200 you can easily disable the cutter via software, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Just wondering, which kind of canvas did you use?
Have you encountered any other problems apart from that one with the cutter blade?

Thanks!

when roll loaded, if canvas was used as paper type & printer will cut at the end. yes, you can disable the auto paper cut on

printer property.

I used hp artist mat canvas & when I finish printing & use     rustoleum    clear glossy latex paint &

with a roller to apply. when it finished & has semi glossy, great uv protection. $8.95 a quart can.

Since your printer is dye & must give good uv protection from fading.

after canvas loaded & make sure do color calibration....   use hp icc profile to print.  try & pick the best one you like.
but different images & different icc profile.  Myself use     hp canvas  more inks...     glossy/semi/satin  more inks.
adobe cmyk etc on my Z3200  Z3200ps.

Cautious for different coatings, some turn yellow.

on Ebay, there are sellers selling the 24" x 50ft $40 a roll included shipping.

buy online & store pick up... can save $1 per can.

good luck on canvas which will open a new window of opportunities for you.... local artists, photographers, galleries, businesses etc etc.

next you might need to be able to do custom framings. because you need to be able to finish those canvas  for customers.

Myself went thru all , since year 2000 when I bought my first hp designjet 500 42".
