Hello, @Jandotto – Greetings!
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel!
I understand that you are trying to print from your iPad and is facing issues while printing to A4 size paper. I'd like to help 🙂
Let's try installing the HP All-in-One remote app (HP AiO remote app) to print from your iPad. Go to apple store and install the HP AiO remote app on your phone.
I found a wonderful document which will give you instructions on how to use this app. Please go through the steps here: http://hp.care/2dlUQ2b
Now, try printing the photos and change the paper settings to A4 before you give the print command.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers 🙂

I fear I must be thick - despite doctorates ....
From my iPad:
1.I find thar I can print photos ONLY on Small photo paper, not at A4
2. I cannot print documents at all
i downloaded the App and it shows all my photos on the PHOTO file, but doesn't show any documents in the DOC file. E.g. I regularly write in NOTES items that I email - but cannot print them on the HP ( I could easily print them on an .Epson). Also emails etc often need printing or an attachment therein.
thanks for your help - so far without benefit, unfortunately.

Hello, @Jandotto
Do not worry, I'm sure we can figure this out 🙂
We can make use of the Apple AirPrint feature also to print. This does not require an app to print. Here are the steps:
Now, Apple AirPrint is a feature which will enable printing from most of the apps including Safari, Mail, Photos, and iWorks. Additionally, other popular apps available in the App Store are supported. In the app, tap the Action icon or
, and then tap Print to print with AirPrint. Follow the steps below to use the AirPrint from your mobile devices:
- In the app that you want to print from, tap the Action icon (
or
) to display the menu options.
- Tap Print. The Printer Options menu displays.
- On the Printer Options menu, tap Select Printer. A list of available printers on the network displays.
- Tap your HP ePrint printer in the drop-down menu. The Printer Options menu displays again and shows your selected printer.
- If you do not need to change print options, tap Print to send the print job to the HP printer.
You can check http://hp.care/2dfqOrL for detailed instructions.
I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
Have a great day 🙂

Thanks for the response. I've been trying your response since I successfully downloaded all the HP material - without any success.
i have a wifi connection with the printer. When I press the PRINT button after everything seemed OK nothing happens. I can email the item to the printer from my iPad - and it prints - but I have no control on which pages to print, Colour or B&W or how many copies etc.
i have spent a couple of hours on the phone to a nice young HP man in Roumania - but he also was unsuccessful, suggesting finally that the problem was my iPad! The iPad is 2 weeks old, works on my Epson printer, and both my old iPad and my wife's iPad were similarly unsuccessful!
i'm about to send the printer back unless I can resolve the problem - rather sad.
