When I print the preview is correct but I will randomly get Chinese characters in my printed document. I updated my driver and can not think of anything else that would cause this to happen. I am using windows 7 and this only happens when printing a Word document.

Hello,
it seems like you're having an issue with word. I would suggest doing this.
1. Click the Tools->Options menu item.
2. Click the View tab.
3. Under Formatting Marks, uncheck the option All.
4. Click OK.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, then I would suggest calling Microsoft and see what they can do to remove or reinstall the program.
I wouldn't doubt reinstalling word will resolve the issue which shouldn't give you an issue if it a trial version, if it's paid you will need to have the Product key, but I would suggest calling Microsoft first.

Hi,
Even I'm facing the same issue even after unchecking 'Show All formatting marks'. I'm getting chinese characters printed in hard copy document randomly and if I give a try again for the same document it is getting printed out without any issues.
If I print the rtf document(by opening in MS word 2010) to a pdf printer it is printing without any issues and I never faced any issues.

Hello,
I have been having this issue recently with windows 10, word 2013, hp laserjet m712 and HP universal print driver. Have you ever figured out what the issue was?
I have tried multiple firmwareon the printer and upgraded it to hp futuresmart3
