Hi,

I’m also interested to buy one, I have found some on alibaba but as they are not used, will they be with the old firmware ?

Late to the party.  Yellow triangle w/ exclamation point.  Hardware update fail.  Soft & hard resets can't clear error 49.  So, WHY WHY WHY HP !??! after HP knows this is hardware push is a fail, yet they continue pushing this hardware after knowing it's a fail?!?  Ordered the replacement board, as this was one of the rare times we bought at Best Buy instead of  Costco.  BIG mistake.  Never again, HP.  Wouldn't be surprised if someone hurls their bricked printer thru corporate HQ.  Not that we'd approve of such behavior.  But would certainly understand.

That is impressive service!

HP does not list this formatter as an orderable part so Ebay or Amazon are likely to be your friends. You may also find some third party parts suppliers with used ones. In terms of buying a "new" from Alibaba, have them confirm what firmware is installed on the board. It is extremely unlikely  that is will have a firmware revision any where near current, as most of these boards were likely manufactured 2 years ago and have been sitting on a shelf since then.

In conclusion - after HP negligently bricks our printers - HP has chosen to just write off all printer sucker/owners.
Got toner inventory?  SUCKERS for buying that - too.  Might as well throw that out.  Too bad - not a things owners can do?
IS there another / alternate solution besides HP silently in essence telling owners, "go pound sand"?  It's evident HP has NO intention to replace formatter boards that THEY fried via THEIR firmware update.   Potentially 100's of disenfranchised printer owners - that "MAY" hav to go out and buy a NEW comparable HP printer - while waiting for their new or rebuilt formatter boards.
After weeks or more, upon receiving & installing & tweaking replacement boards to repair HP's damage ......

(HP SHOULD afford a remedy on their own volition .... so as not to destroy good will)

.......  would it surprise anyone if ALL of those new HP replacement printers - ALL get returned ...  as defective, after owners pay out of pocket to take care of HP's damage?  That'd be potentially hundreds of new/returned printers.  That would be a lot of shipping costs - back to the factory - that HP would have to eat. That'd almost be as unfair as HP negligently destroying HP owner's printers.

I talked to my advocat today about this case. It doesn't care if the printer is in warranty or not. HP damaged the printer with a not working update. So they broke it and they are responsible to repair the damage or to pay for a replacement. Write to the adress in the legal notice on the homepage. Set them a deadline to fix the damage. If HP does not respond, call your attorney to sue for damages in court.

@katherine73 and all

Hi,

I installed the board and now the unit makes a single beep, and nothing is displayed on the screen.  Anyone have any ideas?
