Dears, thank you for the constructive investigation, findings and solutions. Now I bought my new formatter, I probably dragged the screen flat cable, I bought a AWM 20624 80C 60V Vw-1 24 pin , well not the same exact reference than the original one(Sumitomo V AWM 2896 80C 30V VW-1 24 pin) I bought a new screen , and actually I have no screen working with old and new formatter. Is the cable the problem or do I miss something ?

I am late to this issue.  My cartridge was blocked and i Tried a Reset to hopefully go back to earlier software.  I now have the printer in a Fredy 2 Send condition and downloaded the software to this laptop.  It is in DOWNLOADS and also copied to a Desktop folder I named HP.  My problem is I do not know what commands to type to find it from the command prompt or to  to get it to the printer.

Go back a few pages on this forum and you will find instructions.  Download USBSEND.exe from HP or elsewhere (probably best from HP direct at https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/ready2dl/USBSend.exe )  Copy the .RFU firmware file to the same directory as the USBSEND.exe file.  The only Firmware file most people could get to work was http://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/pfirmware/cljmfpM280fw_20220414.ENG.rfu but I have discovered that the recently released latest firmware also seems to work http://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/pfirmware/cljmfpM280fw_20221207.ENG.rfu .  At a "Command Prompt" run as Administrator (right click to choose this option).  Change to the directory where the files are located (in your case you probably need to type "cd\ C:\Users\[UserName]\Desktop\HP"), and type in (without the quote marks) "USBSEND cljmfpM280fw_20220414.ENG.rfu".  DON'T hit return yet!  Connect your printer via a USB lead at the back of the printer (you will need a USB A to B type lead).  Prepare the printer by getting it into the "Ready 2 Send" state then hit return on your computer.  Hopefully it will process the file until you get a "Complete smiley icon" and you may get your printer back.  Hopefully you won't get the secondary "Resend upgrade" problem that I had.  If you are successful then you can use the Firmware .EXE files also available elsewhere to add fonts to your printer.  Try the earlier firmware version first I would suggest although I am not sure if this is the best option.  Good luck!

Does anyone still have that firmware from October that broke everything? I want to test some more. Or URL to download?

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that my printer is functional again but will only take HP cartridges.  The after-market ones I was using are now blocked because of non-HP chip.   Is it possible to go to an earlier version of software to correct that?

The software I downloaded from HP did not work or perhaps I did something incorrectly.  I remembered a post from Don256, so I deleted the downloads and went to I.T. Bacon's site and downloaded his.  That worked.  I also used it directly from Downloads.

Anyway, many thanks for your help.   Many of the other posts helped in understanding the issue and fix a

Thanks to ClearToSend and others my printer is back online, but only with HP cartridges.  I am wondering if it is possible to put the chip from a used HP cartridge into an aftermarket cartridge.   Hate to throw them away.

I might have missed it in the thread but where do you turn off future firmware updates. I searched the menu and can find the firmware datacode but it doesn't allow an option to disable future updates.
