Color laserjet pro m477fnw

Hallo to all,

i've buyed a Color laserjet pro m477fnw and unfortunately i've found that the duplex printing (front/back) is only manual.

Is possible to buy a compatible duplex and attach to the printer?

In the past i remember some hp printers with this kind of possibility.

I've checket the accessories page but it seems that is there is not an official hp duplex.

Someone has this problem?

Thanks.

Hi,

It is a good printer but no auto duplex accessory for it. I've checked all current HP Laserjet printers for small business (69 of them) and I could not find any compatible duplex accessory. Hope some one can find out for you.

Good luck.

What you really needed was an M477fdw, the "d" indicates that duplexing is built in. In many of the machines that HP now produces you have to buy them with a duplexer if you want that functionality, it cannot be added later.

There are certain models that you can add a duplexer to after purchasing but you should always check before you buy to see what options are available to add on later.

Thank you for the response.

It's my fault when i bought the printer to not double check the feature (in the specs there was writter (front/rear: yes manually), but i supposed that in the 2015 every printer has a duplex feature.

Like you, I bought the fnw thinking it would do automatic duplex. Frankly, I think both the HP advertising and the OfficeMax/OfficeDepot information were misleading, maybe purposely so. The printer does handle duplex copying and the like, but not printing. What a waste! I will probably buy another brand next time given this experience. It will cost me more time and money to try to return and replace the existing fnw than to just buy a new one and throw this one out the window. Uhg!

I did not realize it was only manula duplex.  This was a key feature I wanted.  Frankly, the website and printer descriptrion is totally misleading.  It was "fastest duplex printing that the competition".  You sure would think that as automatic duplex.  HP should change this and make it clear in the description that it is manual duplex only.

Since "D" means duplex. What do the other suffixes mean, i.e. f,w,n?

I found this issue to be a big problem for me as well.  HP should work on doing their customers a huge service and creating way to add this much needed feature that we THOUGHT we were getting!!!

HP Recommended

F = fax unit

W = wireless built-in (connect to routers) + wireless direct (acts as it's own router for wireless printing)

N = network (ethernet jack)

D = duplex (auto 2-sided printing)

Cheers, Brian
