Hello All,
We have a customer that has an HP Laserjet Enterprise M553n printer that began printing blank pages after they installed a remanufactured black toner cartridge. They Tried 3 different reman cartridges and got blank pages so they now have an OEM cartridge and are still getting blank pages. The user stated they they were able to get a little bit of colorright after they installed the first remanufactured black cartridge but then it just started printing all blanks.
I had a chance to look at the printer and did not notice any broken parts in the cartridge slots or on the cartridges themselves. I ran some information pages and they all came out blank. Ran a Supply Status Page and the page was blank as well.
I ran component tests and it appears all of the motors seem to be functioning properly. I have not looked at any of these machines in the past so I don't know if the scanners have a different sound than most other scanners but I did not notice a normal scanner sound when the printer was printing. I am thinking that if the scanners were not spinning the printer would have thrown an error and there were no error codes displayed.
I wondered if you folks have seen anything like this or if you are aware of any problems like this occurring on this modal.
Any info you could pass on would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hello Jim,
Did you try an engine test with the HP originals?
You can also try a Cold reset on this unit, or a firmware reset from the embedded web server.
but confirming that the engine test prints the colored lines will be your goal right now.
You could also try a High Voltage test on the cartridges.
Hope this guides you!

Cold-Print,
Thank you for your suggestions. I feel a bit silly for overlooking the engine test while on site. I got a chance to run the engine test and it prints all colors but no black. That led me to go thru the settings again and I realised the "Disable color printing" feature had been turned on by the customer. After setting the printer to allow color printing I was able to print the demo page and got color but no black.
I have restored factory settings with no change.
How would I go about performing a high voltage test on the black cartridge?
Thank you again for your time and assistance.
Jim

I think you have already almost narrowed down the issue to the K toner.
Try replacing the toner. THat should do it

Cold Print,
The customer has tried 3 different reman cartridges and finally installed an OEM cartridge that is in there right now and still not printing any Black.
I will check to see if I can locate another cartridge to test.
Thanks for your help.
