Hi, brand new from Costco, during the initial set up my ham hands weren't used to the tiny screen I believe I chose the Administered option, which I assume means I'm funning a network. I am NOT. I want to be a home user and be able to scan to a folder, not a NETWORK folder, since there is not network cable in the printer, at this point. Factory reset does not give the option to choose what kind of user I am. How do I do that? Or is scan to folder not an option at all unless the printer is on a network?
Thanks,

Hi @Brad1952,
Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query. I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you reset your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw.
Let's go through a few steps listed below:
1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, swipe until the Setup menu displays. Touch the Setup icon to open the menu.
2. Scroll to and select the Service menu.
3. Scroll to and select Restore Defaults, and then touch OK. The printer automatically restarts.
Let me know if this works.
You have a good day ahead.

Hi @Brad1952,
Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you wanted to know why the instructions to reset the printer is kept a secret.
The reason we are using the private message or not responding in public with the instructions to reset the printer because the instructions are critical,
and we don't want it in the wrong hands, as the printer will be set back to factory defaults.
You have a good day ahead.
