please help i cannot add printer to my pc. its saying no directorate service

I am not great with the programming but have had it working and 2 weeks later can not connect.  Have used direct USB / USB.  and have tried serial port adapter. Nothing seems to work. Is there a simple way of doing this , earlier I was not getting a complete print and the Log was saying break in ncommunication ,could this be part of theproblem.
