My sister just bought an HP 4650 in order to primarily scan photos. I have the same printer and it works just fine for me. However, her printer will not scan to the computer in jpeg. It will scan in PDF but it will do nothing if she chooses jpeg. She can, however, scan jpgs directly to her phone - just not to her computer. What setting on the computer could be causing this issue?

Hi,
By default it will scan documents as pdf files and photos as jpg files. Please select scan photo, not document.
One question: Has your sister installed printer software and drivers to her computer yet ?
Note: When scan from printer, select save as jpg file.
Regards.

Thank you for your response. However, yes, my sister worked on this all day yesterday. She installed, uninstalled, reinstalled the software numerous times. The HP settings all look correct and yes, she knows how to choose scan photo, etc. I checked her WIA services and that looks fine. She worked with an HP support rep, ran the scan doctor, did everything that HP could think of. Finally was told it was an issue with her computer, not with the HP device.

To add further - the error she is getting is "HP Twain Scan Error."
