Product: LaserJet 400 MFP M425dn
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

I can't change some of the settings in the control panel, because I receive the following message.


Configuration is in progress by another Management Tool. Contact your Administrator.


Restarting the printer does not solve the problem. I can connect to the printer via telnet, but I can't control all the settings in this way.

How can I troubleshoot this problem?

You can go backs years and years and this issue is not addressed by HP.  Not sure what it takes; obviously multiple posts about the issue is never getting it fixed.  If you don't have someone in front of the printer, you will never be able to configure it.  

 

Say it with us HP: FACTORY RESET IS THE ONLY 'FIX'.  Has been for years and years.

 

ANYTIME you see "Configuration is in progress by another Management Tool" you're hosed.
