I don't seem to have the correct driver to use my laserjet 1012 with my new laptop that runs windows 11. I go through the print screens but don't see which I should check since the laserjet 1012 doesn't show up. Any adivice?

Thanks.

Hello,

As a solution, I suggest that you use a universal printing driver.

Try the following solution:

  1. Download and then run (UPD PCL 6):
  2. Select the Traditional Mode, and then click on Next.
  3. Select the Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings, and then click Next.
  4. Click the Use an existing port drop-down list and select DOT4_001: (HP Print Device), then click Next.
  5. Under Printers, select HP Universal Printing PCL 6, and then click Next.
  6. The Printer name field, type HP LaserJet 1012, and then click Next.
  7. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
  8. Try to print.

Don't hesitate to contact us in case of need.

Best regards,

I was attempting to download the Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (64-bit) for USB connected printers I was attempting to do what you said and since I'm running Windows 11 is S mode, I received this message: For security and performance, Windows 10 in S mode runs Microsoft - verified apps. To get this app, you'll need to switch out of S mode. or, find a similar app in the store. You may want to think twice about switching out of S mode. Especially if performance and peace of mind are your top priorities. S mode was designed for security, speed, and simplicity—offering thousands of Microsoft-verified apps and Microsoft Edge, the fast and safe web browser. Please note, you will not be able to return to S mode once you’ve switched. Even after switching out of S mode on a device with a Snapdragon processor, some accessories and apps compatible with Windows 10/11 may not work(including some antivirus and accessibility apps. What should I do? I really don't want to give up the performance and safety. Thanks,

Hello and thanks for your return,

Try the following solution:

  1. Create a file named, for example, HP LaserJet 1012 driver.
  2. Use the Unarchiver One RAR & ZIP File Manager to extrat file.
  3. Open the Unarchiver One RAR & ZIP File Manager application and click Add Archive.
  4. Double click on upd-pcl6-x64-7.0.0.24832.exe or upd-pcl6-x32-7.0.0.24832.exe.
  5. In the application, right-click upd-pcl6-x64-7.0.0.24832.exe or upd-pcl6-x32-7.0.0.24832.exe, then click Extract.
  6. Select the folder you have created, then click Select Folder.
  7. On the keyboard, press the Windows and R logo simultaneously. The Run window opens.

  8. Type control printers, and then press Enter key. The Devices and Printers window opens.

  9.  Click Add a Printer. The Add a Printer window then opens.
  10. Click The printer that I want isn't listed.

  11. Click Add a local or network printer with manual configuration, and then click Next.

  12. Click the Use an existing port drop-down list and select DOT4_001: (HP Print Device), then click Next.
  13. Click on Have Disk..., and then click Browse....
  14. Search and then enter the HP LaserJet 1012 driver folder or the folder you made before, then double click on the file hpbuio200l.inf.
  15. Under Printers, select HP Universal Printing PCL 6, and then click Next.
  16. The Printer name field, type HP LaserJet 1012, and then click Next.
  17. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
  18. Try to print.

Don't hesitate to contact us in case of need.

Thanks for your response in helping me connect my HP laserjet 1012 printer.

The driver file that was available to me was slightly different from the one you had mentioned. The one I downloaded was

PCL6-usb-x64-7.0.1.24923.exe which was a 20.8MB file. I don't know if that affects anything or not.

Then on your point 12.) where I am it doesn't have the 'DOT4_001:' available. The one I selected was

USB001 (Hewlett Packardhp laserjet 1012).

What do I do? Since the DOT 4 port is not available for me to select?

I appreciate your help very much!

Hi-- the driver links you suggest appear to be dead.  Can you offer replacement ones or tell us which web page?  Thank you--Elena
