Laserjet 4000 N
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello, I'm having difficulties to connect my old Laserjet 4000 N printer to a newer laptop (windows 7) that doesn't have a parallel port.  I purchased a parallel to USB cable and installed the Laserjet 4000 Series PS driver (downloaded from Internet) but cannot get the printer to work.  After downloading the driver it shows up under "Printers and Faxes" in "Devices and Printers".  When I plug the USB cable into my laptop, it shows up under "Unspecified" in "Devices and Printers".

can anyone advise me what the issue is please?  Does this have to do with the Ports or can this printer not be connected via USB?  Thank you.

You many have to try 5-6 vendors of USB to parallel cables and you might find one that works.

Below is a link to one that is known to work with your printer and operating system.
