HP Color LaserJet CP1215

Hallo everybody,

I have converted a HP LaserJet P2055d to P2055dn already without any problem. I used the formatter board incl. network interface from a defective printer and it worked instantly.

Can I do this with an CP1215 also? I have a used formatter board already, but apart from the bigger size it looks like one of the connection cables does not fit!?

Bet regards,

Susanne

Have you checked the back to see if there is room to add a network card?- I thought the CP1210's / CP1215's only have a USB 2.0 port, and no network port or additional IO slot to add an optional jet direct card.

Formatter PCA, HP Color LaserJet CP1210 Series CB505-60001- this is the part number for the formatter, but it doesnt have a nic port. A P2055 formatter probably will not work.

They list this as a potential accessory, but you would need a wireless access point on your network to broadcast to it.

Here the both boards:

I think it would fit physically, but the red marked connector is different. Any ideas?

I cant see the pictures, but i just dont think a P2055 formatter would work in a CP1215- the formatters may be the same size, but the P2055 is a black and white machine and the CP1215 is color- the printer engines and hardware components are different, so the control signals sent from the formatter board to the other hardware in the printer would not be understood.

Don't missunderstand: I have the formatter from a CP1215n and want to use this in a CP1215 to convert into "n"!

Maybe one of the more experienced gurus will have more relevant information. I'm sorry, all my manuals keep refering me back to the 1210/1510 series which appear to only have USB- once the pictures load I may be able to advise.

Hi @mygnom,

There is no such HP model as the CP1215n you refer to.

There are either the HP LaserJet CP1215 / CP1217 model which are USB ony models:

As well there is the HP Laserjet CP1515n which is a a network printer, but this is a completely different printer, a completely different main board / formatter is beign used...

OK, thank you. Now I understand. I mixed up CP1215 and CP1515. So I will use an external USB print server.
