Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

HP Office Jet Pro 8710 seems to have a very slow copy speed when I place something to be copied on the glass.  It is slow using either the black or color setting. All other printing seems to work just fine.  Any ideas ?

@Cowboy116,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are facing issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer wherein the copy speed is very less.

This issue could be a hardware issue with the scanner mechanism or the print carriage.

Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.

1.Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
2.Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
3.With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
4.Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
5.Wait at least 60 seconds.
6.Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
7.Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
8.Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
9.Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Also, let us know if you are able print faster from the computer.

Hey Rainbow23, Thanks for your help but the copy process is still slow after following your suggestion.  In fact the time for the copy to complete is almost 1 minute.  When I print something from the web or from an application, I don't have this problem.  The print is done in seconds. The copy process almost sounds similar to the way it sounds when you are printing a photgraph on the highest quality setting.  I check the settings and they are set to draft quality.  I also tried it at the normal setting.  Is this the speed I should expect on copies from the glass ?  I also just checked the copy process using the document feeder and the copy still took almost 1 minute.  Seems like a setting might be off to me.

Thanks again for your help, any other suggestions ?

Rainbow23, I solved the problem by seeing the Paper listed on the view screen on the printer was listed as Photo Paper.

I changed it to plain paper by modifying the Paper and that solved the problem.

Thanks anyway for your help !
