hp envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Recently bought new HP Envy 4520 all-in-one printer to replace old HP 6520 all-in-one printer. The install of old HP 6520 printer automatically created a short cut on my pc desk top to allow custom control of printing & scanning from a desktop short cut (such as for scan size, texts/photos, brightness). When I installed & set-up new HP Envy 4520 printer, the old short cut is gone but not replaced with a new desktop short cut to do HP Envy 4520 custom printing / scanning thru' my pc. How do I create (explicit step by step) a custom control short cut on my desktop for my HP Envy 4520 all-in-one printer?

Hi! @zeomagi, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand you need to get custom shortcut created on the desktop for your new printer.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Please try the steps recommended below to create custom settings.

If your print driver has a Printing Shortcut tab, save commonly used settings in a custom shortcut.
In the print settings window, click the Printing Shortcut tab, then click one of the shortcut names in the list.
Change any settings using the menus in the right side of the window.
A User Specified Print Settings shortcut displays at the bottom of the shortcuts list.
Click the shortcut to highlight it, then click Save As to rename it.

Refer this article to know how to save preferred print settings as a new shortcut.

Let me know if this works!

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

Mr.Robot,  Found the “HP Support Assistant & Forum by accident. It is some kind of blog & forum place good for question guys like me. Have no idea where I found it so I bookmarked it. But now I cannot find the forum that I initially used to submit my question. It’s buried under several layers of links that I cannot remember. It led to my being able to submit a question to the user’s forum thank goodness. Also led me to be able to find a link that does the same thing my old pc short cut did to do custom control of printing/scanning on my new HP Envy 4520 printer. But instead of doing it via a desktop short cut, this custom control ‘windowlet’ I found lets me do it thru’ the link that I found. If only I could find this entry point

again so I could use that custom control panel. Now, I'm determined to learn how to find that custom control  panel.

It works the same as the PC desktop short cut to do custom printing/scanning. I'd appreciate any assistance in doing that. The info you sent me was a little too high tech for me. I am a straight simple user, not a code programmer. Thanks for any

assistance you can provide.
