I recently bought a new router and forgot that I had manually set the IP address of my printer.  It starts with 192.  The new IP address my router assigns now starts with 173.  As a result, I can not access my printer wirelessly.  Is there a way to reset the IP address via USB?

I have already reset to factory defaults, but since I manually set the IP address, it doesn't change, even with a reset.

Hi,

From the printer select Setup > Wireless > Reset Wireless and confirm and prompt to reset the wireless settings.

Next, from your PC open Control Panel > Devices and Printers and remove any existing device of your printer.

Additionally right click the background area and select Device Manager, locate and uninstall any listed instance of your printer, a such likely to appear within the Imaging Devices / Print Queues / Multifunction Adaptors as examples.

Once done reboot your PC and reconfigure a wireless printer as following:

  • Select Start > All Apps > HP > HP Photosmart D110 and select Add a Device.
  • Follow the steps by selecting a wireless connection.

You will be prompt to temporarily plug a USB to reconfigure the wireless settings of the printer for your new router.

Regards,

Shlomi

I tried all of that.  I finally connected my old router and then got the printer's control panel to open, using the before now unusable IP address.  I then set the printer from Manual IP to automatic.  It now works fine.

Just an FYI here, you needed to reset the printer back to Network defaults to have DHCP enabled.
