Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

i recently purchased an HP8710 printer for home use.  We print from an IMac OS 10 El Capitan v10.11.6 and an Mac Book Air Sierra  10.12 .4.

When printing from either devise the first page begins to print then there is a 30 second delay before the page finishes and clears the printer into the tray.

This has been happening on every print job.  I have re booted the printer by unpluging and re powering.  I checked for firmware and software updates and all seem current.  Any suggestions for a fix?

Thanks

As I understand you are having a delay in printing from your HP OfficeJet 8710 printer.  Don't worry as I have a few steps which should help you to resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you tried performing a Hard reset on the printer?

Have you tried to update the firmware?

How is the printer connected? USB or Wireless

In the meantime, let's start by performing a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.

If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website

Hello,

Thanks for responding to my post.

First I powered off the printer and followed the steps to the hard reset.  I also re down loaded all the HP software to be sure I had all the updates required.  Also went through the wireless connection set up again.

Test pages printed with no delay ,but print jobs from on line files are still delayed 20 to 30 seconds per page.  Especially any PDF file copies.

I did see that there is a firmware update for my system.  version WBP2CN1619BR.  However when I try to down load it i get a message saying that there are no upgrades available for my system.  My current firmware version is WBP2CN1644BR and I assume this is an older version.

I am using OSX 10.11.6 on my I mac, and 10.12.4 on my Mac Book .  Same delay issues on both.

I did see your information about using a USB connection to down load the firmware.  I have ordered what I trust is the correct USB cable and will try to download the firmware by that method.

I will let you know what happens.  If you think of any other diagnosis or repair let me know.

Thanks

@VAGATOR,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you have ordered an USB cable and will try to update the firmware.

You may also reset the printing systems from the link: Resetting the Printing System (Mac)

Let me know if this works.

You have a good day ahead.
