I'm having problems with a DesignJet Z6100. When you power up it beeps once and the green light blinks five times then one red blink then green just keeps blinking. The front panel displays a blank rectangle. Some suggested it could be the cpu fan, some suggsted the power supply and some suggested the main pca. None of these made a difference. Anyone have any more ideas? I attempted to power up holding the cancel and down keys but this did nothing. HELP

The error of 1 beep indicates the unit does not see the processor or it is missing. By your post I assume you replaced the main pca board and if you did, did you move the main processor from the old main pca to the new or did the replacement pca have it own processor.

Hi All,
Could this issue also be the HDD?
What about the LED lights by the back power switch, what are they telling you?
Did you have the back covers off and check all the LED's on the Printmech and the Interconnect? they could also tell you something.
Good Luck,
RoyK

Just going by the book. How about the memory on the board. Did you move it or did you have new memory. Most of the time when I have once of these or the older 4500 if the display does not come on it has been the memory.

I removed the memory from the main PCA. Then the printer had a series of strange tones repeated a total of 3 times, then 3 beeps, then the green light blinked repeatedly. I tried to power off with the front panel, then I got a 08:11 error. Tried putting the memory back in one at a time in the different slots and it always goes back to the original problem.

A bit confused here. You say that when you tried to turn off the plotter with the control panel you got an 08:11 error which means the display is working and to be honest I really think you are having memory issues as that is what I encountered the most with this model and the previous 4500 series. Which board do you have in the printer, the old or the new. I would swap out the board again and just try one memory module since it will work with a 128, 256 or 512 dimm.
