Deskjet 540 Printer, WindowsXP
Microsoft Windows XP

Hi!

I lost my "Installation CD".

Because XP and Deskjet 540 are both no LONGER supported, I am asking fellow HPers if they have a CD that they can share with me please???

I need the driver to get me up and going again.

I REALLY hope that you can help me out!

Sincerely,

Bob, in Canada

@newbobbyc

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand the HP Deskjet 540 Printer Software doesn't work,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Since the disc isn't working or is unavailable, did you try downloading the drivers using the HP website?

If you haven't, please Click here and enter your printer product number to find/download the drivers compatible with winXP,

Alternatively, if the driver isn't available, you may install the driver for Deskjet 990c as a workaround for your Deskjet 540 and that should work as well.

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!
