After going through all trouble shooting, I can't seem to find out why the flashing green light on the power button continues. I don't think it is a software issue from my computer, which has Windows 7 on 64 bit system. No error messages come from my computer. Every now and then, paper will feed through and spit out, but no printing. Is this just old and not worth repairing?

Hello nolagirl,
The green blinking light is telling you that the printer is need of maintenance or there is an error. If there are no messages on the computer then this generally means that the cover is open or the printer is out of paper.
The blinking lights are covered in this solution article
Now I'm going to attempt to predict your next statement in that "The cover is already closed and there is paper in the printer!"
If the cover is already closed let's try a few things, first thing is going to be simply opening the lid and then reclosing it. If that doesn't resolve the issue let's try checking the paper. Ensure there is plenty of paper and the paper sliders are locked next to the paper.
"Ok I've done both of these and that light continues to blink at me!!!"
If that doesn't get the issue solved then we need to try to reset the printer.
The reset instructions are also available on this troubleshooting article

I'm going to stop there. Come back and let me know if these steps helped resolve your issue and if they didn't we can go from there and start trying to figure out what else may be going on and attempt to avoid having to have your printer either repaired or replaced.

LOL! I was saying all those words to myself as I read. I did do all of those things. I tried one sheet of paper, a stack of paper. Old paper, new paper. Lift up the cover, unplug, wait, replug, close cover. You name the combination. I probably did it! I even waited over night with all items unplugged. I am really at a perplexing moment here. The green light is still flashing! Pitch it?

Hello nolagirl,
I hate to say "pitch it," but at this point we are either servicing or replacing the printer. If you let me know the needs you are looking for I may be able to suggest a new printer for you.

Thanks so much! I have two printers just taking space in my closet. I hate to see others just get rid of working items only to upgrade. So, I will turn to one of those. This HP Deskjet was nice. It didn't take up much space and did basic printing jobs, and has done so for the past 4-5 years! It has been a good run.
I am very grateful for your time, attention, and sence of humor!
