My Deskjet 1050 J410 all-in-one worked fine on Windows 7.
Yesterday I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10.
The printer requested download of new driver s/w, This I did. It now prints fine. But it won't scan.
I can access the printer assistant screen from my taskbar.
All the options under the "Print" button work fine.
But when I press the "Scan" button, I get the message
"The HP Deskjet 1050 J410 Series was not found".
I ran some HP diagnostic s/w, which was moving the scanner (I could hear it), and reported that no problems were found.
But still I cannot access the scanner!
Any ideas what to try next?

I finally solved the problem, using HP's "Common solutions for Windows 10" website at
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04773236/
This had a link to "HP Printers - Printer Problems after Upgrading to Windows 10"
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05195282
Uninstall the old printer drivers completely.
Restart the computer.
Install new s/w and drivers.
Restart the computer and printer.
Now all is well. It took a while to find the solution, but it was there if you knew the right search terms!
After doing this, the link to the scanner on the taskbar had disappeared.
It took some further searching, to find out how to get the icon back onto the taskbar.
I finally got there.
S/W upgrades are rarely pain free!
