Hi, Mine is 1.5 years old Deskjet 2545 (ink adv). Worked very well until now. Suddenly stopped functioning.
For troubleshooting I tried printing Test page and it works, but now Scan, Copy or print not working.
I checked resetting printer by unplugging for 30 sec and no luck.
I sure it is not an issue with O/S as it worked earlier and now even copying also not working.
when I give copy page, it starts page from the tray goes half and then stops. (I notice a small beep for 3 times)
Not sure, if it is the time to say goodbye to this printer !!

Hello, @dear_vvr – Hope you are well 🙂
Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
Going through your post, I understand that the Deskjet printer is not functioning anymore. I would recommend performing a power drain on the printer to try and fix the issue. Here are the steps:
- Remove the cartridges from the printer.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle and then reinsert the cartridges.
Now, try making a copy using the printer control panel and check the results.
Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Good luck 🙂

Hi DVortex,
Thank you for your response.
I have repeated your steps.
The result is it prints the test page with bars and dots and with a message "For better print quality, place this page on the glass and then press a copy button"
I tried that and get no response after that. Power button blinks continuously. I have waited for a minute and page comes down without copying anything. (like timed out)
Even I tried scanning the page, but getting the error message as device is busy. Tried printing print quality diagnostics page, but getting same message "device is busy".
problem still persists.
Any other methods for fixing this issue? (may be s/w got corrupted ? )
Thank you, appreciate your help

Hello, @dear_vvr
It looks like a scanner mechanism failure on the printer. That is the reason that you cannot make a copy or scan, but can make a print. I would suggest contacting the HP phone support for further assistance or for printer service.
You can visit http://www.support.hp.com/contact-hp and fill in your product details to get the tech support number.
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help!
Cheers 🙂
