Hi @Quila242,
Good day! 🙂 Thanks for posting your question in the HP Community. It is a terrific place to find answers and tips and to have the best experience in the HP forums. I read the post printing issues with the printer. I’ll be glad to assist you with this. 🙂
You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I have reviewed the situation and it is paramount that we address your issue. Thank you for giving us the privilege to assist you on this platform. 🙂 You’ve done some awesome diagnosis and kudos to you on that score. 🙂
First off we need to diagnose correctly if the issue is hardware or software related.
Also, for better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.
- Did this happen after a windows or software update?
- Did you try to make a few copies directly from the printer to eliminate hardware failure?
- Did you bypass power outlets and connect the printer directly to the wall outlet?
For a start please try these steps:
- Make a few copies directly from the printer to eliminate hardware failure.
- If it copies fine please uninstall and reinstall the printer software.
- If it fails to copy, replace the cartridges and check again.
- Please bypass power strips and perform a hard reset on the printer.
- Also follow all the prescribed steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-ink-advantage-2640-all-in-one-printer-series/5357278...
- If there is no hardware issue with the printer, then this should do the trick for you.
Link for hard reset: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-ink-advantage-2640-all-in-one-printer-series/5357278... please perform only step 1 which is a hard reset.
Steps to make a few copies:
- Please try to make a few copies directly from the printer without any intervention from the computer. Please place the required document face down on the flatbed scanner and touch the copy button. If it copies fine, then the issue could be software related.
Steps to uninstall the printer software:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
Then reinstall the full feature software from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-deskjet-ink-advantage-2640-all-in-one-...
Please keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply.
