I have a deskjet 3054 printer and use a Mac OS 10.7 operating system. I reinstalled the driver from the internet download to be compatable with the operating system and now everything works on the printer except the black ink. No black ink will print despite the cartridge being almost 100% full. I have gone through all the trouble shooting steps of the "Trouble shooting print quality" page and it still isn't working.

I called HP support and since my printer is out of warrantee their suggestion was for me to "upgrade" my current printer, by buying a new one through them. Not only is this environmentally irresponsible, but it is absurd to think I would pay for a new printer when this one *should* be easily fixable.

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks

Hi deskjet3054help,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I understand you are unable to print in black.

I will be happy to help you.

I have provided a document to see if we can resolve this issue of the black not printing.

'Incompatible Print Cartridge' or 'Print Cartridge Problem' Message Displays on the Computer.

If it still won't print in black and the cartridge is still in warranty then I would call HP Tech Support to inquire about a replacement cartridge. Contact HP Worldwide. This way if another Genuine HP cartridge still won't print in black then it would be printer hardware issue.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

Hi. I am having the same problem with my HP 3054. Did you ever get a response that worked. When I checked online, other printers had solutions but they don't work with the 3054. Please let me know.

Thanks.

Welcome to the HP Forums slstern,

I see by your post that you are having a issue with the black not printing.
I can help you with this.

Did you try all the steps in the document provided on the previous post?

Which provides steps for cleaning of the contacts, power resetting the printer and making sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet.

Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.

Printing a Network Configuration Page.

I have provided a document to go through the steps to see if it will help resolve this issue.

Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems.

Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

Did the black print on the Printer Status Report?

Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
Check the date on the cartridges to make sure they are still in warranty. (not old stock)
What are the ink levels?

Have a nice day! Smiley Happy
Thank You.
