I just purchased an HP Deskjet 3054 J610A to use with my Macbook Pro.  The computer has Moutain Lion installed.  I've been able to get it to print via USB, but cannot figure out how to configure for wireless.  Please HELP as I leave for college tomorrow!

Hi dkerscher,

you can use the HP FF SW for Mountian Lion for your device. Choose the Wireless setup option, the device should be found automatically in the instalation setup.

The HP FF SW for Mountain Lion you can download from here: HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers - Mac OS X 10.6, OS X 10.7, OS X 10.8

Let me know if you need further help.

Best regards,
Mandy

1. First you need to connect the printer to the same wireless network to which your computer is connected to

So my mac is connected to belkin.cf4 so we will connect the printer also to the same network
Steps :
hide
We will use PIN method for connecting the printer to the access point
  1. On the HP printer control panel, press the Wireless button ( ). The Wireless Menudisplays.
  2. On the Wireless Menu, press the button ( ) next to Settings .
  3. Press the button ( ) next to WPS , and then press the button ( ) next to PIN . The printer displays a PIN to type into the wireless router.
NOTE:The printer starts a timer that allows four minutes to enter the PIN in the settings for the wireless router.
  4. Access the WPS settings for the wireless router, and then input the PIN into the correct field. These steps vary by manufacturer.
The printer automatically finds the wireless network and configures the connection.
For belkin router - connect the mac to the router using USB
Then enter the ip address of the router in the browser and access its setting page
Access the Wi-Fi Protected Setup option on the left hand side. If it prompts for the password - enter it. In your case password is blank so you will just hit enter.
Then you will see the screen like below
    Inline image 1

Enter the PIN you see on the printer disply in the 'Enter Client Device PIN' textbox and then click on Enroll.
This will show the new dialog box asking to press WPS button on the client device (which i guess is the printer)
I do not know what exactly works
    1. Press the WPS button on the router
    2. Wait for the time out of the timer being displayed on the printer and then press OK when prompted.
This will show the success on the dialog box on the PC
Now in the Wireless settings the printer should show the status as connected and it will show the ip address.
It will also have 'print reports' option - to print all the network settings.
Finally at this point the printer is connected to the access point. So now both the mac and printer are connected to the same access point.

    --------------------------------------------------------
Next step is installing the printer software.
VIMP : To setup the wireless printing you need to connect the printer using USB first. So please connect the USB cable to the printer and computer.
Double-click the HP Installer icon. The Welcome to the HP Installer window opens.

VVVIMP : Select the printer with Connection type USB (even though you are trying to setup wireless connection)
    Inline image 4
Then it will install the drivers required and you will see the following screen. Check the checkbox for 'Configure your device for the wireless network'
    Inline image 5
    Inline image 6
    Inline image 7
Please disconnect the USB at this point (as indicated at the bottom of the screenshot in above figure)
After this you need to manually add this wireless printer to your list of printers using the 'print and scan' option in the setting application

Finally you will see the wireless printer listed in the print setup Smiley Happy
