HP Recommended

I know it's too late, but did the customer support people by any chance tell you to flip the printer over and check the small access panel with the white door?  I was experiencing exactly the same behavior you were, and tried everything.  Then I saw that panel and opened it, and inside was a random plastic pushpin.  It must have fallen from the corkboard we had hanging above the printer and gotten stuck inside the mechanism.  Luckily, HP was smart enough to add an access panel where things like that can be found and removed.  Anyway, I removed it, and it now works perfectly.

Up until that point I was livid and really upset at the quality of the printer.  Now I'm glad that the people who designed it did a good job:)
