Deskjet 5940

Hi,

I recently purchased and installed some third party cartidges for my Deskjet 5940 printer. Now the printer is saying it can't print as the cartidges are not HP's own. I understand HP revised this and issued new drivers to enable third party cartidges to be used, however as the model I have is no longer support I can't download new drivers to allow third party cartridges to be used again.

So are HP basically saying they still support the printer for their own benifit to disable third party cartridges but not to revert the change?

If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

J

Please read this post then provide some details.  What exactly is the error message you are seeing?

The widely discussed issue about HP blocking third party cartridges did not apply to any Deskjet printer.  That said, the printer will perform certain electrical checks on cartridges and will  block cartridges that have electrical faults that might damage the printer.
