How do I disable the color print on my printer,  I want to print in black only.

To print in black ink only on your Officejet Pro 8610 do the following:  go to the Devices and Printers folder, right click on the HP Officejet Pro 8610, Printing Preferences, Paper/Quality, Media Plain Paper, Color Black & White, Advanced, Document Options, Print in Grayscale:  Black Ink Only, OK, Apply.  Some programs may keep their own printer defaults, you will have to change the properties in these programs separately.

Please note that some color ink will still be used at startup and shutdown of a print job to keep the nozzles clear.  While the printer is printing, even in black only, the printhead is waving about in the air and the nozzles could clog without some ink available for servicing.

Also, the Officejet Pro 8610 has separate ink supplies and printheads.  It will require at least a minimal amount of ink in all colors and black to allow printing.  This is to avoid ingesting air into the plumbing and risking damage to the printhead.
