My only stumbling block to signing up for instant ink is whether the printer needs to be continuouisly connected to the internet. Does the system work if the printer is connected occasionally ie when it is switched on and printing? I do not wish to keep my printer permanetly switched on at the mains, is this ok for the instant ink system? Thanks

Hi,
- Connect Printer to Update HP Instant Ink Status
- If the printer is not connected to HP Connected you will be unable to print soon
- Cannot print - Press OK to connect printer to update status
- Press OK to connect printer so replacement cartridge can be ordered
- Press OK to connect printer to update status

Yes, as long as the time that it's switched off doesn't exceed more than a few days.
