Hello, @CABERNETWINE - Hope you are well 🙂
Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!
Going through your post, I understand that the ADF is not picking the paper on your LaserJet printer. I’d suggest you clean the paper pick rollers and the separator pad inside the ADF mechanism to fix this issue.
I found a wonderful document which will help you get this done. Follow the steps listed here: http://hp.care/2oZ0Wsb
Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Cheers 🙂

THANKS DR. DVORTEX for your time.
i realized that the the whole top cover where the ADF is located is not electronically connected to the printer due to the fall.
i could fax and scan from the glass becuase the cover is lying on the glass. but the adf is not working because its not connected electronically.

Hello, @CABERNETWINE
Thanks for the update!
Well, that's bit unfortunate 😞 On the bright side, the printer generally survived the fall and is still functioning. That's some good news 😉
Visit us again if you have any concerns!
Thank you again and may you also have a great day and even better tomorrow 🙂

Hello, @CABERNETWINE
Mechanical failure with a printer is normally difficult to repair.
You can contact the HP phone support for getting the repair options. If the printer is under warranty, you can check for the free repair options and if not, you can go for a possible upgrade.
You can visit http://www.support.hp.com/contact-hp and fill in your product details to get the tech support number.
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
Hope that helps!

THANKS, DOCTOR DEVORTEX FOR UR TIME.
as far i can see its just the hinges from the cover of the flatbed that are broken. i wonder why that would prevent the feeder from sucking in the papers..
can i send you photos?
you sound like a very kind guy type. and you work for HP . can they give me new part for free as a courtesy since we have have been using HP for quiet some time?
