Document feeder scans pages but won't save as one document. Says no paper in feeder after scanning

My HP printer/scanner scans multiple pages via document feeder but the PDF document is not saved to its selected destination. Only single pages scanned through document feeder or scanned via flatbed are saved as PDF files.  I do check the "Create one Document" box. This is incredibly frustrating! Thanks for any advice!

Thanks for engaging in the HP Forums! I see by your post that you are trying to scan multiple pages to one document. I will certainly do my best to help you.

You need to use “HP Scan Software” to perform this operation. Follow the steps below:

• Place the document on the ADF and open the HP Scan on your MAC.
• In the HP Scan window, click Scan.
• Select your printer name in the Scanner menu, then select a scan job type from the Presets menu.
• Click the down arrow in the upper right corner of the window to view and change scan color, orientation, and quality settings.
• Click Continue. The printer scans the item.
• Click Scan Next Item or Add to scan additional items, or click Done.
• To save your scans to a folder on the Mac, click Send in the bottom right corner of the window, then click Folder.
• In the window that displays, click the Where menu to browse to the folder you want to save the file to, then click Save.

Go to http://hp.care/2ffHTph and select “Use HP Scan software” to get detailed instructions and to download the app.
