I followed the link for this specific question that you said would help.

I was disappointed (again) that the link was to HP in general.  So general I first had to choose which country I was to be supported in.  Then I would have had to answer more questions and, in effect do a search for the aswer to the question. Which may be more difficult than the search from which I got your link. I am sure, actually, I picked your response first, so it was a matter of seconds.

This method, though it might have made things simpler for a few HP people, makes it more difficult for anyone who uses HP support, an imbalanced relationship.

Phooey on HP

continued from above...

Your help system is cumbersome.

Is it a printer or a scanner?

Is it an officejet or a laserjet?

Is the 1,2,3,4,5,... 10,000 series?  Well, which?

OK, now do you want us to list the actual printers for you to pick from?  (which i thought this was supposed to be the point of this series of questions).  I dont think there were any other options, anyway.

Well, I chose the only option, and guess what?  There were no specific printers listed.   WHAT?

What overburdened high school student did you get to design a system like this?  He must have had a lot of fun.

To bad for us he never tried to use it.

CUMBERSOME

And the sad part is that you knew what my specific model and issue was when you included the link in your reply to the original gentleman.

Double Phooey on you.

Hi,

Welcome to HP Support Forum. Please allow me to simplifiy my answers:

  1. HP Officejet Pro 8600 series of printers are Inkjet printers (using liquid inks).
  2. They are Multi Function Printers (MFP) or All-In-One. They can Print, Scan, Copy and Fax
  3. There are few models/products for this series, you can find them as N911x (where x can be from a to z). You can Google " Officejet Pro 8600" and this will show them.

For example:

      http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-Pro-8600-e-All-in-One-Printer-series---N9/4322916/m...

And my answer for your main question: Yes, it has OCR software to come with it.

Regards.
