Can't get Duplex printing to work... manual or automatic.

Came with the auto-duplex accessory.

It is installed properly in the back... and is detected by the printer and OS (Win XP).

In any 2-page+ document (DOC, PDF, etc..), I select File->Print

The officejext is the default printer...

Then I click "properties"

Under the layout tab... under the 'print on both sides' catergory; there are three options:

- none (default)

- flip on long edge

- flip on short edge

I've tried both options....

it just prints on individual sheets, as if "none" is selected.

I searched the forums here, didnt find any similar posts.

Hi JTK1980,

Are you still experiencing issues?   Installing a generic driver may resolve the issue.  Here is a link that will provide the steps for that. Link Once the driver is installed try duplex printing with the generic driver.  Make sure to change settings in properties and click ok, then send print job.  If you have MS word or similar program you can try changing the settings directly from the program rather than the driver.  If you would like more information about your product please Click Here

To change setting in MS word:

1. Click file

2. Click print

3. Under settings choose print on both sides (this does not access print properties-you will not see a dialog box)

Hope this helps!

Hi JTK1980,

Thanks for the response.  Has the accessory been turned on within the driver?  Please see the steps below to verify the duplex accessory has been enabled in the driver.  Let me know how it goes.

Turn on duplex accessory within driver:

1. Click Start, and then click Printers, Printers and Faxes, or Devices and Printers.
- Or -
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Printers.
- Or -
On the Start screen, click Control Panel, and then click View devices and printers.
2. Right-click the printer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Select the Device Settings tab. Click the accessory that you want to turn on, click Installed from the dropdown
menu, and then click OK.

Once the accessory is turned on, open document and attempt duplex job.

Hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I am using Mac OSX 10.8.4.

The accesory is turned on in the driver, although for some reason it keeps resetting to default off.

System Preferences > Print and Scan > Options & Supplies > Driver ... HP Two Sided Printing Accessory (check box)

Unfortunately the documents still only print simplex.

For PDF I open:

File > Properties > Advanced > Print Dialogue Presets > Duplex Long Edge
File > Print >Two-sided > long edge binding

The file still prints simplex which is really frustrating

Hi JTK1980,

Thanks for the reply.  How is this unit connected?  If you are connected wireless, try adding the device with a USB cable to see if there are any connectivity issues.  We can also try re-seating and re-enabling the duplexer.

Re-seat duplexer:

1. With power on, disconnect power cord

2. Remove duplexer

3. Reconnect power, and wait for unit to return to home screen

4. Reinstall duplexer

Re-enable in driver:

1. Go to system preferences

2. Select print and scan

3. Click options and supplies

4. Click on driver tab, then select the duplexer to installed

5. Make sure to click OK on all dialog boxes open

Open document and test functionality.

Hope this helps!

Hi JTK1980,

Are you still experiencing issues?  Was an alternate connection type tested?

Regards,

  8. Under Two Sided Printing, check Long Edge Binding or Short Edge Binding .

I am having the same problem.

My OS is Windows 7 Professional

When the "Print both sides of paper" box is checked the document still prints on one side, but prints in reverse order with the output pages facing down.
