I have recently bought the hp m277 dw colour laser printer. The colours are too dark on my printed photos and docs. I know how to set economy mode on my Windows 10 PC, but is there a way to set this option when printing from my iOS device using the ePrint app?

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
As I understand the Economy mode using ePrint provides a dark image,
Does this issue occur while printing the diagnostic page, as well?
Don't worry, though, as I have a few steps to help you out:
Solution one: Use genuine HP toner cartridges
HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink or toner supplies. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP cartridges, the steps in this document might not resolve the issue. To check the authenticity of your cartridges, go to hp.com/go/anticounterfeit.
Visit HP SureSupply to check ink or toner cartridge compatibility or purchase replacement cartridges and other supplies.
-
Go to HP SureSupply.
-
Scroll to the bottom of the page, and then make sure the country/region location is correct.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to order new supplies or check cartridge compatibility with your printer.
You can also purchase genuine HP cartridges and supplies from other retailers.
Solution two: Check the paper
The quality and type of paper can affect the print job. Follow these guidelines to make sure that the paper is appropriate. If it is not, load an appropriate paper type.
Keep me posted for further assistance,
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Have a great day!

My problem is that I cannot use the Economy mode setting when I print a document from my iPad. I can however do so when printing from my PC, as that option is offered under the print preferences/paper/quality menu. Using the economy mode from the PC the printed document is closer to the original and not as dark as when it is printed from my iPad.

Thank you for the update and the clarification,
You may check the FAQs for both ePrint & AirPrint apps for the preferences you are looking to obtain:
If you cannot find the option/preferences within the FAQs or otherwise, I'm afraid it's not supported by the Apps.
Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,
It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.
