HP Envy 4520
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Hey everyone,

I just bought the HP Envy 4520 to print some resumes that have a full color bleed on the header and footer. When I print these with the borderless setting there are bands of lighter color around the edges. This is more prominent if I print with "Best" or "Maximum dpi" settings. I've tested this on 3 different types of HP presentation paper (2 matte, 1 glossy).

Is this the expected behavior of this printer when printing full bleed with a solid color? Do I need to upgrade to a better printer? If not, how can I fix this issue?

I've attached an example.

Greetings @bennforlife,

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that the printout is blurred on the edges when you are printing borderless documents.

Don't worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Have you checked the print margin specifications of your printer?

Recommend you to check the "print margin" specifications of your printer mentioned under "Paper-handling specifications". Click here for your printer specifications.

Based on the print margins, there is a margin of 3.3mm left on all sides of the printout meant for the rollers to handle the page.

Hope this helped.

Are you saying the printer cannot handle borderless printing at Letter size?

In the specs on the product's page it states Borderless Printing "up to 8.5 x 11 in, 216 x 297 mm."

Thanks for the reply, though the printer specifications say it is borderless, there is still going be a gap of 3.3mm as mentioned in the print margins section in the printer specifications.

Hence you would find the blurring on the edges of the printouts.

Also, make sure you have installed the full feature software for your printer to get better results.

If possible try to print borderless using any other application and check the results. Click here for an HP Forums post.
