Hi,

This week, we have enable SNMP v3 on all our 230 HP Printers (4250, 4015, M602...) using Web Jetadmin.

We have decided not to disabled SNMP v1 but to put the setting "Read-Only".

But today, when we change any settings, a pop-up "Needed Credentials" appears (see attachment).

We've never setup a SNMP v1 community name, so we don't know which credentials it needs.

Please help.

Regards.

Hello,

This error is comon.

We are used to think that there is no password, but SNMP is a protocol. Therefore, it has some rules.

One rules is that when using SNMP v1 &2 if you never set a password, the defaulted password is "public"

The reason why this happens is because SNMP always need password. All devices know this password because it is a standard on this protocol.

I hope this helps you.

Any ways if you continue to have issues, please don´t hesitate and call us at 1-800-334-5144. The Web JetAadmin team will be at your service.

Regards.

Hello,

Thank's for your reply.

We already try "public" as password, and some others, but nothing work.
